About

I explore the relationship between sound and image and the performance possibilities shared by both. As a practice-based researcher, I’m particularly interested in the human-computer relationship and the ways in which computational technology can shift and change human expression.

I teach courses across many disciplines, including audio engineering, media theory, gaming, critical making, and interaction design. My interactive media and installation work has been featured in spaces such as the Crossman Gallery and Walker’s Point Center for the Arts in Wisconsin, the WORKS/San Jose Art Gallery in California, and Eyedrum Art and Music Gallery in Atlanta. As an experimental visual performer I’ve been programmed nationally and internationally in venues and conferences including NIME, Cube Fest (Blacksburg, Virginia), Sonorities Festival (Belfast, N. Ireland), Festival Multiplicidade (Rio, Brazil), the Outpost Art Gallery and the Knockdown Center (NYC), and the Spillestedet Stengade (Copenhagen, DK).

I have a Master's degree in Sonic Arts from Queen's University Belfast and recently graduated from Georgia Tech with a PhD in Digital Media.

I'm always open for collaboration, so get in touch. aweisling@gmail.com
